Developing the “G-Series II”
Soprano
Saxophones
Both of the original “E-Series” & “G-Series” Soprano Saxophones are very good saxophones. They were designed to play best with a short shank mouthpiece and the bore design was patterned after a vintage soprano. The tone color of these instruments is exceptional.
So when Kenny wanted to improve the "G-Series" and make it more like tho one he playsthee were some of the things I thought about for the new "G-Series II" sopranos.
I had so many people the world over say
"It does not look like the soprano Kenny plays".
The "G-Series II" not only looks just like the soprano Kenny plays & plays like the soprano Kenny plays...... When you view the photos below you will notice the different palm key design on the "G-Series" soprano in the middle and the "G-Series II" sopranos on the outside.
Bore Design:
Copied the bore of the soprano Kenny plays very closely. I made only a few minor adjustments to the tone hole placement to improve the intonation and response. These slight adjustments in the bore now allows the instrument to have better intonation with either the short shank or the new very long soprano mouthpieces. The “G-Series II” Soprano are slightly shorter then the original soprano with a completely different bore design. **You can see the length difference in the photo below.
Key Design:
*The key design for the "G-Series II" soprano saxophones was simple I copied the keys on Kenny's soprano. I made the palm keys a little larger to fit the hand better.
Soprano Range:
*The range of "G-Series II" soprano is high F-sharp. Many great saxophonist and designerd believe the more tone holes on the top end of the saxophone contribute to not having a great response throughout the instrument. The soprano Kenny plays only go up to a High F.
Case:
*The Case is Wood with a very good outside leather.
Available Finishes:
*We chose a new Dark Lacquer Finish that is very rich in color and resembles the great vintage sopranos from years gone by.....The only other finish is a Silver Plated Body & Keys featuring the NEW EZCareTM Tarnish Resistant Silver Plating. This new plating process helps the silver remain new looking much longer than the traditional silver plating of the past.
The "G-Series II" design will give the professional and all other range saxophonist an instrument they can be proud to play and sound good while playing.

*The saxophones pictured above are prototypes and not production models. They are just to show the differences in the
Original "G-Series" and the NEW "G-Series II" sopranos.
*I would just like to say that purchasing a Kenny G "E-Series II" or G-Series II" soprano saxophone will in no way guarantee that you will sound like Kenny. These instruments are a direct copy of the bore of the soprano Kenny plays but as you all know each saxophonist produces an original tone. This is the beauty of the saxophone.
Kenny has a very unique sound on the soprano saxophone and most of that is due to the way he plays and his talent. I believe the Kenny G Soprano saxophones to be the best sopranos on the market today and would give you the best shot at sounding like Kenny. Keep in mind that he still practices at least two hours a day even with his busy schedule. Dedication and practice are the tools to a great sound. I am sure you will love and enjoy playing these sopranos.
